Shoe # 24 – Red and Black, again!

My friends Bruna and Matt got married last Friday in the courthouse and they had a small celebration on Saturday evening at their home. When we got the invitations I thought that was going to be another great opportunity to save a high-heeled shoe and be on this week round-up of the shoe challenge!

I use to wear high heels all the time. ALL-THE-TIME! Last year I broke my toe and the doctor told me that my feet is shaped as a heel feet. It’s hard to explain in words but basically, means that your toes and bones are not aligned the way that somebody who never wears (or wear in moderation) high heels are.

Even when I was pregnant, I was still in my heels. But after my daughter was born, I was kind of afraid to drop her. It’s so much harder to hold a baby and find balance in heels. Then after she learned how to walk I though: Nice, now I can go back to heels! Until one day she ran away from me on the parking lot and it was hard to speed up to catch being in heels.

So I went back to flats. Nowadays she is a very good girl, who knows that she should always hold my hand and wait for me, but I got lazy. It’s so much more comfortable be in flats that it’s all I want to wear now. I own 14 pairs of ballet flats and one more sporty type from Puma. And my eyes always shine when I see a nice pair of flats. And I want more!!!

On the sandals side, I own just 4 pairs of flat sandals and 2  more dressy flip-flops. I totally need more flat sandals. I can’t wait for January 24th, 2012!

Back to the wedding, this is what I wore:

WHAT: Patent lather red pumps from Aldo
WHEN: Saturday, August 13th
WHERE: Friend’s wedding celebration
WITH: Dress from Bebe, earrings from TargetBulova watch, Aldo Accessories clutch and ring (this ring it’s the silver version of this one), headband from Brasil
And this is what my daughter wore to the party. She was very excited to be on the picture!

And that’s my hubby and my daughter making faces for the picture at the party:

Shoe #23 – BBQ at home

After a week working from home in shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops, finally I got an opportunity to dress up and save some shoes.

We dad a small BBQ party at our home last Saturday. My husband is really in a party mood since we moved from Colorado. We have thrown so many parties at our house that I told him I didn’t want to have any party for a while because I was tired. But he convinced me saying soon classes will start and probably we won’t be having parties all the time anymore.

So we had the party. And it was great except for the first our or two. I was a little late with all the preps because I spent 2 hours watching Rio with my daughter. And I did just because it was the Rio movie, and it’s in Brasil. I never stop in front of the TV when there’s a party to be organized. That and the fact Sam’s club had the hugest lines ever. And Albertson’s too. And Sam’s didn’t have my meat ready and I had to go back again to pick them up. And another huge line. And off course, Murphy’s law, I always choose the slowest one, the one were people are paying with several types of payment, or price is wrong or something is holding them at the register.

So I got back home at 6 pm and the BBQ was at 6 pm. Great isn’t it? But after we ate I finally could relax and enjoy and talk with my guests.

Here is what I wore:

WHAT: Platform sandals hand-made by my friends Totty and Leia in Brasil
WHEN: Saturday, August 6th
WHERE: BBQ at home
WITH: Skirt from from Banana Republic, top from Loft, earrings from Brasil, Bulova watch, Also Accessories ring.

Blog Award

I got an award from my blogger friend (I think I can call her friend, by now) from the blog Denise’s Planet, Codes and Secrets. She is Brasilian like me and we both “met” on the shoe challenge and I love to visit her blog. I wish I could keep my blog just like hers, talking about everything a bit. Maybe after the classes starts and I find a way to manege my time wisely…
So even though my blog is sometimes abandoned for the lack of time to post here, she gave me an award. Thank you so much!
One Lovely Blog AwardOne lovely blog award
For accepting the award, according to Denise., you have to:
1. Link back to the person who passed you the award;
2. Share 7 random things about yourself;
3. Award 15 blogs;
4. Drop them a note to tell them about it!

So here is my 7 things list:

1 – I don’t like pork meet and it’s not a religious thing, it’s just my taste. The smell of frying bacon makes me want to trow up. I’m not exagerating, it really makes me nauseous.
2 – I drink only latte type of coffee or like we do in Brasil: HOT milk and coffee. I hate to have to pour cold milk/cream on my coffee. I can’t stand warm coffee, it needs to be HOT.
3 – I hate the hard skin (can’t find a name in English for it, but in Portuguese would be “nata”) that form on top of the milk after you warm it. This is the #1 thing that makes me want to trow up. Not kidding either.
4 – I’m kind of hypochondriac. I always think I have something and I want to take medicines for everything. I also don’t handle pain very well, so before I get a headache, I’m already taking Tylenol.
5 – I’m a small dog type of person. I love to hug and cuddle and squeeze just like Felicia.
6 – I need to put nose drops every night on my nose when I go to bed. My nose gets completely congestioned when I lay down so I can’t sleep without my “magic drops”.
7 – I made a promise on 01/24/2011 to not eat chocolate or buy any clothes, purses, shoes and accessories for one year. I don’t know which one is harder to keep it. I’m looking forward for 01/24/12!
Bonus thing: I used to be a nearsighted till 5 years ago. I was a -10!! Having the surgery was the best thing ever! I can’t even remember how was to wear glasses or contacts.

Now I have to nominate 15 very nice blogs. This is very difficult to me because I read lots of professional blogs and I don’t think is fair to give them an award. I think some of them would not even care about it. So for personal blogs, as I mention, I do like Denise’s blog but I can’t give the award back to her so my list would be this:

1. Hello Lolla
2. Forever Amber
3. Futilish
4. Escreva Lola Escreva
6. Um ano sem Zara
7. Hoje eu vou assim
8. My milk tooth
9. Cake wrecks

I’m very sorry but I could not even find 15 blogs for the list. And even among these 9 blogs, I have to say that the last 3 are kind of professional. But I just love them. Here are other blogs that I read but are too professional to be included on the award list:

10. Garotas Estúpidas
11. Dia de Beauté
12. Shoeperwoman
13. The Fashion Police
14. Sea of Shoes

Not even adding these ones I made to 15.  Shame on me!
